Virtue Series 8: Justice in leadership
If there is a line of statement that thrills me each time I remember it, it is the preamble of the Declaration of Independence of America. It emphasized on the equality of humanity and the truth that all men deserves to be treated justly. Justice is a virtue that upholds truth and test integrity of heart. It is the determining factor of the moral standpoint of what ever action is taken. It is the melting point of conflicts with a veto power that can make or mar situations, people and relationships. As a leader, being just entails doing right to anyone irrespective of their past experiences and fall-outs with you. It includes signing the promotion of that employee when it is due, irrespective of how unhappy you're with his/her approach to work. It means upholding meritocracy against nepotism. It preaches sound evaluation of any scenario or complaint brought to your table before taking a decision. It calls for fairness even when you'll have to step on toes. Have you e...
