Children Lead Too!

Image
Today, we join the world to celebrate the children in our lives. While you buy them Ice cream and  Pizza, please endeavor to have a life changing conversation with them about their lives and future relevance. While you take them to Crunchies, Kilimanjaro, KFC, Seven Eleven, Mr. Biggs and the big eateries, take some time to tell them the stories of how such businesses are built with resilience, and that it's more rewarding to be the owner than his customer. While it's a time to celebrate children all over the world, its most importantly a time to teach them about living significant lives that will make them better citizens and great leaders of tomorrow. Buy them books, share transformative stories with them. Play them movies/Videos of World Youngest talents, kids making history. Teach them 21st century leadership principles in simplified ways. Let today count in their lives so much that even after excreting the waste from today's plenty chopsss and fun, they'll still be

THERE IS A KING IN YOU

Image
Years ago, a time came when kings were gathered for a meeting in a faraway land. I got an invite to attend that meeting and so I put my things in order and set off on the journey.  Two days later, I got to the venue, a magnificent palace with walls decorated with precious stones. I got into the palace and I sat down where servants were seated. A palace guard who saw me as I entered the palace walked up to me and bid me to follow him. I followed.  He got to the front row, stopped and turned to me, he said "Look up there sir, that is where you are meant to be seated, up there, not down here".  Confused I asked "aren't those seats meant for kings? I'm just a servant and I'm here to serve".  He quickly checked his book and looked up at me and said "you look like a king to me and here look! You are named among the kings".  Without further protest, I proceeded to the stage where kings sat and quietly found a seat amongst them. I was calm but my quest

A CALL TO RELEVANCE

Image
"An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity" Dr Martin Luther King This quote has influenced my life greatly, over the last few years. I have come to understand life from a perspective of making impact. Living a life that is relevant here starts when you as an individual can rise above the narrow confines of your individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity. It is a conscious effort and a daily commitment to make a difference in lives. You don't have to be bold, beautiful, rich, famous to do that, you are just amazing the way you are. Touch the life next to you. The life you have been given is a gift, use it wisely and make positive impact that matters in the lives of men. The best investment you can ever make on earth is investing in lives and dreams. Get out of that comfort zone, look around you, there are lives to impact, broken hearts to

LIMITING BELIEFS

Image
Let's Talk About Limiting Beliefs! So through the weekend, I had a power-packed online conference I attended that repositioned my life and I'm sure many of us here also attended that summit - Headstart Summit. One of the Major takeaways I had from that summit was - Destroy Limiting Beliefs. While I paid close attention to the 17 different power speakers of that conference, from Disruptor Ubong King, to Disruptive Creator Kunle Soriyan. I discovered that significant progress in life is bounded (Permitted and Restricted) by our belief system. No matter your business or professional inclination, you are at the mercy of your mind. In fact, your business goals, financial projections, leadership goals, management targets are as big as your minds eyes can see. So if it's about the mind, you can understand why it's about our belief system right? Because  our mind is the headquarters of our beliefs. It not only processes those thoughts, it also decide to what extent you can even

WORLD DAY OF THE BOY CHILD

Image
16th May happens to be the Day of the Boy Child. We celebrate every boychild out there that has taken a resolve to live a significant life, Respect the female folks, and Surrender their tendencies and yearnings to the will and purpose of the maker for their lives. This year's theme happens to be "Protecting our boys, reclaiming our heritage". Wait a minute! How true does that sound in your mind? Actually this is as true as you can ever imagine it. The young boys out there are passing through a whole lot of pains and uncertainties in their transition from boyhood to adulthood. Pains that have made them think about superimposing their weakness and vulnerabilities all in the name of proving themselves as strong people that have the capacity to be called men. There's been a worrisome negligence on the male child since the gospel of developing the female child became an anthem. Little did we see how much such negligence was costing the efforts towards the fem

CONSISTENCY AND BECOMING

Image
Dear friend, I know you desire all the success you can get out of this life. You see those who have had a level of success and you admire them, you want to be like the. And sometimes, you ask if this is ever going to be possible. It is not an impossible dream, it is attainable, very attainable. But you need to travel the path of excellence, they traveled. It takes commitment to start, it takes consistency to finish. The trouble most times is you get started but lose when it  comes to consistency. Excellence is a habit you need to imbibe and develop and it comes through consistency. Somewhere, I read that when you fail to execute a daily habit for one day, it reduces the odds of retaining that habit by 5%. Failing to execute a habit 2 days in a row, reduce the odds of retaining that habit by 55%! Yes, 55%! Miss more than 2 days and you can kiss your new habit goodbye. Therefore, never miss doing the minimum daily requirement for 2 days in a row. If you miss one day, make it a priority f

THE WAY THAT SEEMS RIGHT 2

Image
There's a way that seemeth right unto a 21st-century youth. (Contd) She was really pissed off by asking for recharge card money from her petty-trader mum and felt the best bet was to seek from the guy down the street. * She could have helped mum sell and get some share plus effrontery to make her request, or better still learn a skill or help mum get more customers online... But she felt her beauty could pay without such stress. * The success of the first episodes usually blinds the eyes to the reality of the looming consequences. She counted her mint Mayra notes with shoulders high, hailing her bravery and applauding her courage. "Use what you have to get what you want" became her slogan. * The Second escapade got more cash but... * The pressure from friends appeared so much that his No sounded like evidence of cowardness. From a sip to a single gulp, then a bottle was no longer enough. * He was sure it was a wrong habit, but the glory and cheerings from his friends gave

THE WAY THAT SEEMS RIGHT

Image
There is a way that seems right unto a 21st-century youth. It's a way that massages his ego, dignifies her beauty, and satisfies their longing to belong. At the junction lies two sound systems. One gives old fashioned advice on moderation, the other an active lively appeal to youthful exuberance. I'm scared of their choices. Not because I've lived through the lens of both adverts, but because I've learned from the mistakes of many, whose tears forever flow. Just beyond the junction are a kiosk painted pepper red, cockroach brown, and mango green. It's own by an influencer whose products appeal so much... He has a spicy flavor of old fashioned rightness, but his works are laddened with the justified abnormalities coated to seduce the mind for possession. I got perturbed when she gave a loud cry. Just after that came the sobbing of a male voice? What could have gone wrong I pondered....? To be continued...
