Beyond the norm!

Image
Until last week, I never had a clearer understanding of how powerful our strong will and optimism can drive us. Sometime within the week, I had a need to travel to Lagos for an assignment. By the second day, I was done with the official purpose that took me down there. I decided to visit a friend at the Island before travelling back. On my way down there, I saw this brother of mine whom left the east a day before myself. His Passion for music made him travel this far, his optimism to be the best so filled his waking and sleeping thoughts. While I decided to give him a call that I was passing the gates of a place he had so longed to be, I immediately saw him entering that same gate! What a coincidence empowered by strong will. While I was with my friend in the Island, I saw dogged hustling of both aged women and young kids that caught my emotions. How young boys carried Kgs of goods on a plank on top of their head, while struggling to move in obviously weighty pains. I was deeply touc

LESSONS FROM ABRAHAM LINCONS LETTER

Image
If you’ve ever come across the well thought out letter written by Abraham Lincoln to his son’s teacher, you’ll discover a wealth of information that makes for a distinctive personality. In between those phrases and clauses lie words of wisdom that helps every potential great leader to make meaning out of his/her existence. While I will show you the unedited content of the letter, you will find in parenthesis extra lines that seems to have been added to it based on my findings; LETTER My son starts school today. It is all going to be strange and new to him for a while and I wish you would treat him gently. It is an adventure that might take him across continents. All adventures that probably include wars, tragedy and sorrow. To live this life will require faith, love and courage. So dear Teacher, will you please take him by his hand and teach him things he will have to know, teaching him – but gently, if you can, teach him that for every enemy, there is a friend. He will have

PLANNING 4: Think Big! The Bigger the better!

Image
In concluding, this Planning series, am sure we must have gained some knowledge of what we need to Plan , make our plans work and make a difference. This is coming more like a summary of what we have discussed so far. I remember when I was in high school, our Vice Principal Academics would always make us recite this words; The heights by great men reached and kept were not attained by sudden flight, but they, while their companions slept, were toiling upward in the night. - Henry Wadsworth Longfellow ... Those words affected my perception to life and how I chose to exist in my generation. It made me to understand that 3 Sets of achievers exist in the achievers world, - The No achievers - The Average achievers and - The Extraordinary achievers. The No Achievers are those who sit and watch things happen, they dance to the wind wherever it blows. They sit and complain about how bad everything is. They manage the future they've found themselves in. They live on loans so

PLANNING 3: WHAT TO DO WHEN YOUR PLAN "FAILS"!

Image
Shit happens right? I remember sometime ago, I had written down a couple of things I wanted to achieve in a quarter of the year. I kept my daily activities revolving around those things to the best of my ability. I tried reviewing it from time to time to check my progress level, until it came to the end of the quarter in question. Guess what! I couldn't achieve up to 50% of the things I had written down. As painful as this outcome was, I was however glad that it happened to me. Sounds weird right! YES, the outcome of that shortcoming and disappointment made me ask myself relevant questions, as to why I haven't been able to achieve much, even with all the plans and efforts I have put into it. I was on the verge of giving up planning my life and future activities until I got an answer from within. I found out that I had taken more than time and necessity demanded I took for the time being. I also discovered that I had been, at some points, carried away by so many terivialies

PLANNING: The Power of Planning

Image
Join me in this series on PLANNING! Untill I understood the power of planning I became a great believer in the outstanding power of planning regularly. Its very pathetic but true that if you aren’t working to your own plan, then almost anyone can hijack your talent, time, attention and efforts to further their own cause. It’s not that you can’t have flexibility; you definitely can! But flexibility should come within your own plan for your life, at your own discretion and with logical purpose. When you plan, you break down your dreams into actionable and realisable goals. You Take large bowls of responsibilities in swallowable chunks that you happily consume and smile afterwords. When you plan, you make goal realizations possible and easier than when unplanned. These were the word that influenced the success of many Great minds in history today. “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.” ― Abraham Lincoln There are always 1001 ba

MAKING YOUR 2017 COUNT

Image
Entering a new year with purpose is the best thing that can ever happen to any young mind who wants to make the new days and seconds of the year count effectively. The challenge of living up to expectations. The fear of looking back without regrets at the end of the year, the worries of how much time to give to a particular area of personal development, and the clumsy thoughts of what kind of value to add to lives and how best to claim God’s blessing for the year stares us all at the face. You see!!! It is usually very tough to tow a new path. The outcome is usually very uncertain to the point that it makes us think so hard sometimes unconsciously. Do you remember how fearful facing WAEC exam seemed to you after your first term test in S.S 3? Or the state of your mind each time you remembered JAMB was few weeks ahead and yet you had not covered up? This feeling is natural, regular and always there each time our mind is not yet prepared to face a daunting task ahead. 36

WELCOME TO 2017

Image
Dear Quintessential breed, I chose to use this opportunity to welcome you to a new year of limitless possibilities, exceptional victories and boundless greatness. It’s truly by the mercies of God that we are not consumed and His infinite love that has sustained us. The passion that sparked the creation of this blog has been rekindled, and is ready to help you live a useful, worthy and value-filled life in 2017. I have always asked myself, how best do I let people out there know the right way to make lasting impact in our today’s world? I’ve been disturbed by the pains young minds face as a result to uncertainty of what is right or wrong, what should or should not be done, how best to be distinct in a world where everyone seems to be doing the same thing, how best to change an attitude that has eaten them so deep and a lifestyle that has really marred their lives? All these and many more called for the desire to create this blog. 2017 is a year to be Positively MAD (Make
