Virtue Series 9: Moderation in Leadership.

To so many,  it sounds counterintuitive to talk about moderation and leadership at the same time.  This weird feeling is most often seen in people whose perspective of leadership is that of "authority and power". Leadership is really beyond coercion of will but achievement of goals. However,  the place of moderation generally in life cannot be downplayed, not to talk about it's place in leadership. Effective lead ers understand that moderation transcends finding a middle ground in decision making, but culminates into skillfully circum-navigating and managing the complexities leadership poses without being overwhelmed by its challenges. A leader needs to imbibe moderation in every thing he does if he must avoid extreme polarization which has become the norm in today's society. He must learn to curtail his expenses even when he has it in excess. He needs to be moderate in his expression and reactions to avoid creating indelible scars and regrets.

Virtue Series 8: Justice in leadership

If there is a line of statement that thrills me each time I remember it, it is the preamble of the Declaration of Independence of America. It emphasized on the equality of humanity and the truth that all men deserves to be treated justly. Justice is a virtue that upholds truth and test integrity of heart. It is the determining factor of the moral standpoint of what ever action is taken. It is the melting point of conflicts with a veto power that can make or mar situations, people and relationships. As a leader,  being just entails doing right to anyone irrespective of their past experiences and fall-outs with you. It includes signing the promotion of that employee when it is due, irrespective of how unhappy you're with his/her approach to work.  It means upholding meritocracy against nepotism. We were with your brother last year before his demise . We had some experience and nice moments of which we reminisce. He placed some hurdles on our pathway. But we scaled thru and outsmarted like twas relay! We had goals, some we achieved to the last. We had plans, some we met that we wish time has not past.
