Nigeria @56 Thought of this day had clouded my mind as September drew to and end. I reminisced on the Yester-years and compared them to the realities of this year. I was almost in tears about the state of the nation and the need to ceremonially remember this day midst the poverty stricken nature of today. The recession has bitten so hard that even the affluent bite their fingers. All in the name of building a better Nigeria. Many woke with regrets, curses, hate speeches, and wrath about the historical event of today. Many denigrated independence and went as far as saying we would have been better had we remained in the tyrant hands of our colonial masters, (What a shame full thought). The pains truly is enormous, but is the disdain needful? Does it help? The very first part of my independence talk today started with a whatsapp debate on defending that Nigeria is not foolish by a youth who was too bitter that he allowed emotions cloud his sense of reasoning.
