GENERATION NEXT!
Which generation do you belong to?
What’s peculiar about your generation?
With the trends of your generation, how much can
you vouch for a better next generation?
How passionate are you about giving your kids a
world worth living in?
What efforts are you making in ensuring the next
generation celebrate memories of your lifetime?
These are the questions
that run through my mind from time to time, and I think you also need to
consider them as important if you see life from the perspective of Making A
Difference.
Welcome to a technology
age where the speed of communication has been geometrically improved, while
deepened the gap of genuine human interaction with real feelings. Welcome to an
age where kids are succinctly educated about the historic significance of
memorial dates, without being taught the priority of forgiveness beyond painful
past. An age where immorality is being justified with an excuse of self-actualization,
body autonomy, and liberalism of consent, without letting the young minds know
how damning such lustful tendencies are. An age where the gospel of relativism
has made morality loose it sacredness, and every one almost has a relatively
good justification for his actions and lifestyle. An age where office holders
prioritize fringe benefits and financial entitlements over value leadership,
and people development. An age where politics has been made a profession,
rather than a call to service. An age where the 5year old girl knows similar
sexual stuffs as the 16year old teenager. An age where Christianity has been nominalized
and now preaches doctrines that pampers the propensity to sin. This is the
generation we live in. What does the future hold for our kids?
Should we be honest with
ourselves, the turns our generation has taken, has left us with deeper insatiable
longings, and stronger feelings of oddness that we most often excuse with the
saying "Change is constant". We understand that there is a deviation
from the norms that we had been born into. We appreciate the fact that the
world in growing dynamically every day. But we find it difficult to uphold some
age long legacies that help the generation before us, because we feel it will
make us archaic. We feel that being dynamic entails embracing every new idea
that pops up, and seems to make sense, without x-raying how best to align it
with sound moral principles that can truly uphold the fabrics of the society.
In our 21st centuriness,
we have not just lived with a 19th century mindset, but we have also practiced
and lived a morally mangled version of the 20th century, and called it 21st
century realities.
How do we Make A
Difference that will turn the tables?
For the sake of the next
generation. For the need of giving our children a world with better moral
frameworks and value systems, we must act passionately to restore the right
mindset. Truth be told, the world is so big to be turned by one stir, but so
little not to be affected by a one-on-one approach.
Its high time we reflect
on the kind of world we deserve to live in, and compare it with where we
currently live in. Next we honestly rebuild the broken moral frameworks of our
society without minding the pleasure we will lose. This calls for building
personal value systems and strengthening that of the society that has been
squeezed into uselessness. The work must begin with us. We must start with
re-inventing our own mind.
We must prioritize
innovative and creative thinking, but ensure it’s within the ambience of moral
rightness. We must encourage explosive knowledge growth, yet with a true
undertone of sound knowledge that fosters peace, unity, progress, and upholds
sound value systems.
We need to take some
time out to reach out to the younger generation still in the high schools and
higher institutions. They need to be told the truth about how much damage has
been done to our value systems. Of how morally decadent the society they are
living in currently is, and the need to embrace the right values and true moral
principles. We need to passionately listen to their deep questions and give
clarity to the confusions. We need to advocate for a mindset that only takes
the right lessons from the preceding generation, while discarding her flaws and
mis-deeds even if they appeared appealing and enriching. We need to let them
know that while greed is an inherent human nature, that a life devoted to
pleasing God will always help them overcome the temptation to dance to such
mataba-dance. We need to speak to their conscience about the truth that
forgiveness is golden. That there is dignity in doing the right thing even if
many people are doing the wrong things. We need to let them know, that the
purpose of sex education is not for them to go experiment with themselves, but
to know how best to respond to the natural hormones and feeling at the
appropriate times.
Without the right
message, we can’t get to effect the needed change. Without a decision to speak
up and make a significant difference in the life of the youngest breeds living
in our generation, we cannot help them build their lives the right way.
For the sake of rescuing
the country and continent from the devastating blows of morality apostasy.
For the sake of having
better next years of fulfilment and progressive development.
For the sake of handing
over to our unborn kids a world they will be proud to live in.
For the sake of
satisfying a waiting generations longing for a right path and nation.
For the sake of
glorifying God in our existence here on earth, before living for eternity,
Let us live
intentionally, with the mindset and proactive thoughts of Making A Difference
each day by adding values and building the systems that will help generation
next attain their God given purpose.
