Beyond Stigmatization!

It's true that AIDs it's real, but it's inhumane stigmatising her victims.

With a heavy heart and deep sense of pain,  Bunmi walked out of the office of her boss. She had been recently diagnosed of HIV and Aids. However, it was still at an early stage. She had contracted it from a medical personnel who collected her blood samples with infected tools. On approaching her boss, He inquired about her mood and lax to work. While explaining, he got all furious, shocked,  judgemental, and drew hasty conclusions, that she was a flirt and suffered the consequences of her lifestyle. For the next 1week, his disgusting and disgruntled look at her were horrifying and tormenting. This stigmatization and deep words led to her suicidal demise. Mr Jide's stigmatization led to the demise of his secretary whom alone had the password to the safe where his companies documents laid. It cost him the most expensive contract he had ever received, as the notification and deadline was 2days before her demise.

It's World AIDs Day! A day we commemorate, interact,  show love and fight stigmatization against people who are living with HIV and AIDs.

We live in a world where we have wrongly learnt to make hasty conclusions about people's predicament without making proper findings. We live in a world where we feel pained when segregated, but try to justify stigmatising people who don't meet up with out definition of normalcy. This hasn't changed their personalities, has never made us any better than we are,  and have not championed recovery or a better life for the stigmatized.

Great leaders look beyond people's mistakes and seek for how to help them get back on track,  fit into society again,  and feel human!

Stigmatization by a leader questions his tolerance status as a leader. It creates a loophole in his influence box. It destroys the potentials that should build his empire,  and makes him loose trust of the unstigmatized too.

We must learn to remember that Shit happens! The lady living with AIDs out there may not have gotten it from illicit sex. Why accuse her falsely? Even if she has, why crucify her a second time? Isn't the pains and knowledge deep enough to turn her psyche and change her lifestyle? Can't showing her care and concern, give her the hope to live and be a changed person?

True leaders live beyond stigmatization. They believe everyone has a second chance. They believe anyone  can be transformed rather that completely destroyed.  They believe that the best impact is that which transforms someone positively and give the person a reason to live one more day.

Let's join hands and pray-for rather than slay the victims of Aid, while we spread the truth that AIDS IS REAL! ABSTINENCE is Golden!
